HCDE Sakson Diversity Undergraduate Scholarship

Website: UW Human Centered Design and Engineering Department

Description

The Department of Human Centered Design & Engineering offers the following scholarships for current students thanks to the generosity of HCDE alumni and friends of the department:

  • David Farkas Endowed Fund for Undergraduate Student Support
  • Donna M. Sakson Endowed Scholarship
  • Donna M. Sakson Endowed Scholarship for Excellence through Diversity
  • Equity in Design Scholarship in Human Centered Design & Engineering
  • Michael and Sirina Berg Endowed Fund for Leadership

Donna Sakson and Jonathan Mark, Donna's husband, established the Sakson Diversity Scholarship fund to bring more under-represented minority students into the HCDE department and thus into the profession. "By offering educational opportunities, we expand diversity both in the educational setting and in our professional community," Sakson said.

Donna is a UWTC graduate and former President of Sakson & Taylor, Inc., one of the largest technical documentation companies in the world with offices in Seattle and Vancouver, Washington; Fort Collins, Colorado; and Boise, Idaho.

The amount of the scholarship varies each year based on revenue from endowed funds.
