Description
The goal of this scholarship is to provide financial support to homeschool graduates at UW and encourage them to reflect on their educational experiences and goals.
Eligibility
- Open to current and incoming UW undergrads who will be enrolled at UW during the 2023-24 academic year.
- Earned a homeschool high school diploma instead of a mainstream high school diploma. Declaration of Intent required; students from alternative high schools who earn high school diplomas are not eligible. Running Start is acceptable.
- Attends or will attend University of Washington.
- Financial need is not a requirement to apply, but will be taken into consideration in the selection process.

Procedure
Online application will open May 1, 2023. Access the online application here, between May 1 and June 21, 2023.
The online application will include:
- Essay: In what ways has homeschooling influenced your perspective on learning and your identity as a learner? What challenges and/or opportunities did you experience from it? How do you expect having been homeschooled will influence your experiences in college and beyond? (Max. 1,000 words)
- Expected Family Contribution (EFC) amount from your FAFSA or WASFA. If your EFC amount doesn’t accurately reflect your situation, please provide additional context. (Max. 250 words)
Selection criteria:
- Content, clarity, insight, depth of self-reflection
- All are welcome to apply, but need will be a consideration in selection
