Description
Phi Beta Kappa, the oldest and most respected undergraduate honors organization in the United States, has pursued its mission of fostering and recognizing excellence in the liberal arts and sciences since 1776. The Puget Sound Association of Phi Beta Kappa, founded in 1953, is open to all Phi Beta Kappa members from any chapter in the country who currently reside in the Puget Sound area. It encourages and supports excellence in education through activities and awards.
Four awards of $2,000 each will be given to students at the University of Puget Sound and the University of Washington for use during the next academic year.
Eligibility
REQUIREMENTS FOR UW STUDENTS
Student applicants should
- Plan to be enrolled as an undergraduate in the following academic year
- Have at least a minimum 3.80 GPA, verified by the UW
- Not have been a recipient of this award in a prior year
- Be eligible for need-based financial aid based on FAFSA, verified by the UW
- freshman

- junior
- senior
- US Citizen
- Permanent Resident
- Undocumented
Procedure
To apply:

- Submit a two- to three-page, single-sided, double-spaced essay on the following topic:
What book has influenced your college career most, and why? [Please note that the essays will be judged primarily on the argument developed to defend your choice rather than on the choice of the book itself.]
