The LAGRANT Foundation annually provides scholarships to undergraduate and graduate students who are attending accredited institutions and are pursuing careers in the fields of advertising, marketing, or public relations.


Scholarship Program

The 2026 TLF Scholarship Program is Accepting Applications!


In celebration of our 28th Anniversary, TLF will award a total of $150,000 in scholarships to 50 college & university students across the nation.

30 undergraduate students receive scholarships in the amount of $2,500 each.

20 graduate students receive scholarships in the amount of $3,750.


Program Description

Scholarship recipients will receive a trip where they will participate in career building activities, including a welcome dinner with a keynote speaker, three daylong career development & professional workshops and a scholarship & donor recognition reception.

TLF accepts applications from undergraduate students (current freshmen, sophomores, juniors and non-graduating seniors ONLY) and graduate and Ph.D. students.

Eligibility
Undergrad Eligibility Criteria:
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident or DACA recipient
  • Must be a full-time student at a four-year, accredited institution in the U.S., carrying a total of 12 units or more per semester/quarter
  • *Must have a minimum of 3.2 GPA (if you do not meet this requirement, please see the application checklist below)
  • MUST major in a field of study that has an emphasis in advertising, marketing, public relations
  • MUST have AT LEAST ONE YEAR to complete his/her degree from the time the scholarships are awarded in May 2026
  • Recipients MUST be available to participate in the scholarship activities in May 2026. If chosen, the applicant MUST attend TLF’s scholarship activities as noted at top of page to receive the scholarship. The applicant must make a one-year commitment to maintain contact with TLF to receive professional guidance and academic support.

Graduate & Ph.D. Eligibility Criteria:
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident or DACA recipient
  • Must be a full-time student at a four-year, accredited institution in the U.S., carrying a total of 9 units or more per semester/quarter
  • *Must have a minimum of 3.2 GPA (if you do not meet this requirement, please see the application checklist below)
  • MUST major in a field of study that has an emphasis in advertising, marketing, public relations
  • MUST have a MINIMUM OF TWO ACADEMIC SEMESTERS or ONE-YEAR left to complete his/her Master’s degree from the time the scholarship is awarded in May 2026. Summer semesters DO NOT count.
  • Recipients MUST be available to participate in the scholarship activities in May 2026. If chosen, the applicant MUST attend TLF scholarship activities as noted at top of page to receive the scholarship. The applicant must make a one-year commitment to maintain contact with TLF to receive professional guidance and academic support.

Undergrad Application Checklist:
  • Application must be typed or it will not be accepted
  • Application form, which includes all the following components. The following essay questions should be answered on separate pages:
    • A one-page essay describing your career goals and the steps you plan to take to achieve them.
    • A short response explaining why you believe it is important to increase the presence of underrepresented groups in the fields of advertising, marketing, and public relations.
    • A brief paragraph explaining college and/or community activities in which you are involved in
    • A brief paragraph describing any honors and awards that you have received
    • *Optional: If you do not think your GPA accurately reflects your scholastic capability and achievement, please draft an essay (no longer than one-page) explaining the gap.
    • One reference letter from a college professor or internship advisor on official letterhead and signed
    • Your current resume
  • Unofficial transcripts from your college/university; if you are selected as a finalist, you must provide official transcripts. If you are an incoming freshman starting in Fall 2026, an acceptance letter from your college/university may be used as a substitute for unofficial transcripts.

Applications must be submitted online only no later than 5:00 p.m. PST on Friday, February 27, 2026. Applications submitted after February 27, 2026, WILL NOT be accepted!

Applications submitted by 11:59 p.m. PST on or before Tuesday, January 20, 2026, will receive an additional 10 bonus points to their application.

History

The LAGRANT Foundation (TLF), a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization based in Los Angeles, was established in 1998 by Mr. Kim L. Hunter to address the lack of representation in the advertising, marketing and public relations fields.

  • Since inception in 1998, TLF has awarded 891 scholarships, totaling over $3 million.
  • TLF received the American Advertising Federation Mosaic Award in 2008.
  • For our 10th Anniversary in 2008, 15th Anniversary in 2013 and 20th Anniversary in 2018 TLF awarded $250,000 in scholarships in each of those years.
  • TLF Founder/Chairman Kim L. Hunter received the 2011 Joseph Roos Community Service PRISM Award from the Public Relations Society of America’s Los Angeles chapter.
  • TLF Founder/Chairman Kim L. Hunter was named on of “The 50 Most Powerful People in PR” by PR Week in 2012.
  • TLF Chairman & CEO Mr. Kim L. Hunter was inducted to PR Week’s 2017 Hall of Fame.
