UW's Matthew Kaiyen Hwang Endowed Memorial Research Scholarship provides financial assistance to undergraduate students at the University of Washington. To honor the life and passion of Matthew Kaiyen Hwang, this scholarship creates opportunities for UW undergraduate students seeking hands-on, scientific research experiences. It aims to advance scientific discovery while reducing financial barriers that might otherwise be prohibitive.
Eligibility
UW undergraduate students who:
- qualify for need-based financial aid, as determined by the Office of Student Financial Aid
- are engaged in hands-on, scientific research experiences
- freshman
- sophomore
- junior
- senior
- US Citizen
- Permanent Resident
- Undocumented
Procedure
Recipients of the Matthew Kaiyen Hwang Endowed Memorial Research Scholarship will be selected from the pool of applicants for the Mary Gates Research Scholarship. To be considered for both scholarships, the Mary Gates Research Scholarship and the Matthew Kaiyen Hwang Endowed Memorial Research Scholarship, please complete the Mary Gates Research Scholarship application. No additional application or information is required.
