University of Washington student, Carl James Dunlap, had a powerful impact on the UW community with his vibrant personality and persistent advocacy for students with disabilities. To honor his legacy, the Dunlap family established the Carl James Dunlap Memorial Scholarship. The Dunlap Memorial Scholarship seeks to support students with disabilities encountering unique challenges when attending and completing higher education. 

Eligibility

The Dunlap Memorial Scholarship selection criteria is a UW student who identifies as having a disability and has a demonstrated financial need. The intent is to help support students with disabilities who would benefit from financial assistance to continue their pursuit of higher education.

All class standings can apply.

Procedure
History

Carl had a full, rich experience at the University of Washington and was able to live on campus with the help of his family, friends, and caregivers. To honor that legacy, his family has initiated the Carl James Dunlap Memorial Scholarship to help facilitate that experience for others with disabilities and commemorate his business aspirations and his passion for travel.

The intent is to provide assistance to students with disabilities and demonstrated financial needs to take full advantage of on-campus living, internships, conferences, and study abroad opportunities by providing a stipend for personal care assistance and travel.
