Description

Thirteen (13) students will be selected for an eight-week summer internship in Dublin, Ireland, where they will gain real-world experience while deepening their understanding of Irish history and culture. Honoring the shared history of social reform leaders Frederick Douglass and Daniel O'Connell, the program supports students from diverse backgrounds in preparing for future career success.

During this specialized program, Douglass-O’Connell Global Interns will spend June 14-August 7, 2027 attending lectures on the history of social change in Ireland, participating in networking and extracurricular activities, and interning with a host company aligned with their skills and career goals.

The 2027 Douglass-O’Connell Global Interns will take a 6-credit academic internship and seminar while on the program. Students will also explore the legacies of Frederick Douglass and Daniel O’Connell as successful businessmen and leaders of social change. In addition to this course, Douglass-O’Connell Global Interns will participate in a fully immersive internship at an Irish organization.

Students seeking a rich international internship that combines real-world work experience in Ireland with an exciting overview of Irish history and culture are encouraged to apply.
