Eligibility
General Criteria for all scholarship applicants include having an interest in railway engineering, maintaining a minimum GPA of 2.5, and being available for interview by the AREMA Scholarship Committee. Enrolled students must have completed at least one quarter or semester in an accredited* four or five year engineering or engineering technology undergraduate/graduate degree program.
The 2021 application form applies to all Scholarships offered by AREMA. By completion of this form, the Scholarship Review Committee will determine which Scholarship(s) the candidate qualifies for. The deadline for applications is December 4, 2020 and will be available in September.

New York Central Railroad Memorial Scholarship
- $1,000
- Priority given to a student at Clarkson University
Norfolk Southern Foundation Scholarship
- $1,000
- The student's institution must be located in Norfolk Southern's service area
North Carolina Railroad Company Scholarship
- $1,000
- Resident of North Carolina for tuition purposes.
- Applicant must be enrolled in a North Carolina College or University
Union Pacific - William E. Wimmer Scholarship
- $1,000
- Undergraduate
- The student's institution must be located in Union Pacific's service area
William E. and Barbara I. Van Trump Scholarship
- $1,000
- Undergraduate
- Student’s institution must be located in Union Pacific’s service area
