Description

The Killam Fellowship Program is a Fulbright Canada award that gives undergraduate students from universities in the United States the opportunity to spend either one semester or a full academic year as an exchange student in Canada. UW students may participate in the program as a direct exchange student (registering at their home university, paying their home fees, and attending the host university as an exchange visitor) at one of the participating Canadian universities.

Participating students receive an award of $6,000 US per semester, health insurance, and a travel grant of up to $800CAD (on a competitive basis).  Additional benefits include two enrichment seminars held in Ottawa, ON (fall) and Washington, DC (spring). As Fulbright Canada alumni, student will also be able to take advantage of networking, internships, and other award opportunities offered by Fulbright.

This program, administered by Fulbright Canada, is supported by an endowment from the American Killam Trusts, Global Affairs Canada, and the Foundation for Educational Exchange between Canada and the United States of America (Fulbright Canada). It is an integral part of the Foundation’s multidimensional strategy to foster mutual understanding between Canada and the United States of America. In 2008 the Canadian Studies Center signed a partnership agreement with the Killam Foundation enabling up to two full academic year fellowships annually for UW students.
