Description
To inspire future creators in the video game industry and encourage diversity in Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics (STEAM), the ESA Foundation established a scholarship fund providing support for women and minority students across the United States. 
 
Since 2007, the program has awarded more than 400 scholarships, to power the dreams of underrepresented students earning a computer science or video game arts and sciences-related degree.
 
Three types of scholarships are offered:
  • The ESA Foundation Computer and Video Game Arts and Sciences Scholarship

  • Esports Scholarship

  • LGBTQ+ Service Scholarships Co-Awarded with Gay Gaming Professionals
 
Eligibility

ESA Foundation Computer and Video Game Arts and Sciences Scholarship

  • woman or minority
  • pursuing a degree leading to a career in computer and video game arts and sciences
  • current high school senior, college freshman, sophomore or junior
  • enrolled full-time in an undergraduate program at an accredited four (4) year college or university in Fall
  • U.S. citizen

ESA Foundation Esports Scholarship

  • woman or minority currently
  • competing on your college esports team/club or confirmed to compete at the collegiate level in Fall
  • current high school senior or college freshman, sophomore or junior
  • enrolled full-time in an undergraduate program at an accredited four-year college or university in Fall
  • U.S. citizen

ESA Foundation LGBTQ+ Service Scholarship co-awarded by Gay Gaming Professionals

  • woman or minority (including those who identify within the LGBTQ+ community)
  • actively performing service or volunteer work for an LGBTQ+ community, regardless of sexual orientation of gender identity.
  • pursuing a degree leading to a career in video game arts and sciences, competing on your college esports team/club, or pursuing content creation.
  • enrolled full-time in an undergraduate program at an accredited four-year college or university in Fall
  • U.S. citizen

Procedure

What to expect in the application process:

  • First, you will be asked to complete a general application that asks questions about you, your academics, experiences, etc.
  • Once you hit submit on the general application, you will then be redirected to a page that has the following three different scholarship options. You are more than welcome to apply to multiple scholarship funds if you meet the eligibility criteria.

2.ESA Foundation Esports Scholarship

3.ESA Foundation LGBTQ+ Service Scholarship co-awarded by Gay Gaming Professionals

  • After you select a scholarship fund to apply to, you will then be asked a few questions that are specific to that program. After hitting submit for this section, you can either return and apply for more scholarships, or your application is complete.
